Our company has dispatched representatives to participate in training courses for exporting Vietnamese fresh longan to the global market on December 8-9, 2022. Can Tho and Hung Yen were the two sites for the course.
Everyone who attended the training event was exposed to plant quarantine legislation, the technical process of cold treatment, setting up and managing longan growing fields for export to markets throughout the world. The cold processing procedure for fresh longan for export, in particular, is critical.
The product is cold at 1.30C in 13 days. There are now 4 freeze-dried longan processing plants in Vietnam, 3 in the south and 1 in the north.
Receiving raw materials from the growing area that have a production unit code -> sorting, selecting -> packing -> cold treating -> repacking, labaling if qualified
The packing box has 3 characteristics:
- Production Unit Code
- Treatment Facility Code
- Packing House Code
PPD and MAFF must inspect and authorize refrigerated containers used to process longan. If the procedure is good, Japanese and Vietnamese plant quaratine officers sign for certification. (2% of samples are collected by quarantine officers).
The cold treatment approach has the benefit of not requiring a large investment in equipment. The success of this treatment of longan exported to Japan will open the door to negotiating the use of this treatment to additional import markets.
